Select Proformance ELITE Whey Protein Isolate
Cold-Filtered Microfiltration Whey Protein Isolate: In microfiltration, whey runs through filters at low temperature to remove nearly all fat, lactose, and other impurities. This process is similar to a water filter – removing impurities and leaving only purified water behind. In comparison, microfiltration removes the impurities from the whey (lactose and fat) and creates a purified protein isolate.
Ion Exchange Whey Protein Isolate: Ion exchange technology is a step-up from cold-filtered microfiltration. The protein undergoes an electrical charge process where additional sugar, fat, and lactose is filtered out. This gives the finished product a higher amount of protein and lower amount of sugar, fat, and lactose. This process cautiously protects the protein from denaturing, resulting in an ultra-purified whey protein isolate. Protein that undergoes the ion exchange filtration process has approximately 30% more leucine than a protein using cold-filtered microfiltration. Select Proformance WPI includes 2.5g of naturally occurring leucine which is a critical amino acid for athletes to initiate muscle protein synthesis.
Elite WPI contains less than 0.1g of lactose, making it generally suitable for lactose intolerance. However, we recommend trying our Elite Plant protein if you have a severe lactose or dairy allergy.
